This proudly Canadian company is dedicated to being the most reliable, innovative and well-informed company in its own industry. That’s not all. Besides its duty to constantly upgrade its products for the customers, Southwest is committed to the community in more than one way and is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the company leaves a positive handprint where ever it goes.
Rightly said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give,” by Winston S. Churchill.
The community has always been an important aspect of what Southwest does. It not only strives to keep as many jobs in Canada as possible but also emphasizes on sourcing products from Canada first before looking elsewhere.
This goes without saying, the company is also a keen supporter of several charities and has actively taken on quite a few initiatives in the past years.
Southwest Bindings donates a portion of its profits once a month each year to a charity of its choice. The company has been participating in the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer for the last 11 years.
It also takes part in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the Becel Ride for Heart, the Heart & Stroke Big Bike, the United Way’s CN Tower Climb and the CURE Foundation’s Denim Day.
At Southwest, they believe it's not how much one gives but how much love one puts into giving. The staff here spends volunteering time at the Daily Bread Food Bank sorting and packaging food. They have also contributed to the Red Cross for Natural Disaster relief for events, such as the Fort Mac Fires, and the floods in the Philippines, among others.
The Southwest family believes in lighting up the faces with smiles during festivities. For 20+ years, the company has been donating the money that it would have spent on Holiday Cards every December to the Covenant House.
As an organization, they make it a point to take that extra step for special initiatives for the young ones. Southwest sponsors 4 Children to go to Camp as part of the True Patriot Love program. They have been making contributions to the Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive for the past 5 years. Last but not the least, they provide neighborhood schools with stationery and supplies, such as binders, tabs and twin pocket folders
To ensure that Southwest connects well with the community and maintains a strong community presence, they have also introduced a new program this year wherein every other month the staff from all our locations will have the opportunity to participate in an activity which benefits their own community.
“For it is in giving that we receive…” with this idea, Southwest Bindings will continue to participate and start more initiatives to give back to the community.
